Following a nail biting finish in the JPL Cup semi final against Billeracay, the U15 squad travelled to the Worcester Warriors Stadium for the big event, the JPL Cup Final.
Upon arrive at the girls got their first taste of playing at a professional level stadium and pitch. After introductions, photos and match side interviews they watched Arsenal U13s win their game.
Then it was their turn, facing Notts County, a big name club with plenty of history and experience. A great game was played by both sides, with the U15’s scoring the first goal and controlling possession for the majority of the match. Then, in the last seconds Notts County were awarded an indirect free kick just outside the box and scored a screamer of a goal.
So it was down to penalties and the atmosphere was tense to say the least. Goal after goal went in, but the U15’s goal keeper proved she could keep her nerve under pressure and the girls came away the winners.
More photos, much cheering and singing in the stands. This is a day the team will always remember.
Now onto the league cup and maybe even the quadruple?
